Ken Asked: Yahoo service announcement email?

At 5:15 pm on 4.11.2012 I received an email claiming to be from

Yahoo! Mail

Important information about your Y…

SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT Dear Yahoo! M…

(this is as much as I can see w/o opening email, btw, this is on a cell, not desktop, if that matters).

Is it bs?

How can I tell if it's bs w/o opening?

Is it safe to open either way (long time ago, they said even opening emails could launch big bad's). Is that still valid? If yes, isn't that a problem on a cell when you delete a just read email and the next email auto opens? Is there a way to option a return to list instead of opening (for a cell)? Or should people always back out to the list before deleting?

If this email is bs, isn't it kind of ball-sy (ie stupid) to so fraudulently mirror a major web service? Or is Yahoo to hack prevention, internet security alerts, & and protecting it's users as Barney Fife is to law enforcement?

(sorry, Yahoo…but you're kinda starting to suck. Not AOL suck. Not yet, at least. btw, is AOL even around any more? Never mind…not relevant)

Does Yahoo plan to do anything, not just for this one but for any in the future? Like…

…stopping it before, or as soon as possible after?

…work tirelessly to prevent them in the future?

…develop alarms/alert/notifications not only to Yahoo users but their own employees?

Maybe they should have laid off only 9'999 people, instead of the whole 10,000.

COME ON' YAHOO! GET YOUR SHOES ON!
